I want more happy, peaceful times with my kids. I want them to have memories of working hard and playing hard. I want to make my home a safe haven for learning, experimenting, and growing.
So this week I tried to embrace more perfectly the learning moments that come with imperfect timing, the priceless interruptions. I read a quote over at 71 Toes that I just love:
INTERRUPTIONS
"When you are exasperated by interruptions, try to remember that their very frequency may indicate the value of your life. Only people who are full of help and strength are burdened by other persons' needs. The interruptions which we chafe at are the credentials of our indispensability. The greatest condemnation that anybody could incur - and it is a danger to guard against - is to be so independent, so unhelpful, that nobody ever interrupts us, and we are left comfortably alone."

Long story short, I LOVE this photo of my daughter, while my son was sleeping we read a darling book about snowflakes and then we made our own. So simple, yet so memorable. And she was SO HAPPY. I want more moments like that!
Awww - what a priceless photo!! Thanks for your comment on mine - you are right, they are very similar. It is indeed the small things in life where we find our great joy, if we aren't too busy to look :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a good quote for me right now. I feel like EVERYONE needs me, and it's a bit much at times. But better than the alternative, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteWow that quote really makes me think differently of all the interruptions around here!
ReplyDeleteThat is such an adorable photo. Time with kids really is precious.
